One of my best birthdays ever!

I didn't have my dream "debut @ 21" but I had my dream regression theme because of my friends.

Hashi's birthday last June 4 was dubbed as "Skirty Day" wherein we wore skirts.




So on my birthday, I decided the theme: ROCKERZ DAY!
We'll be wearing black...

And we did wear black, including some of my other friends! Naki-rockers din!

During the break, they surprised me with this birthday poster:

After lunch, they had these balloons:



And what luck! The reviewer dismissed us early for lunch so we went out for lunch at Salve's Grill... all the while walking at the streets with one balloon each.


And it didn't end with balloons!
They said it wouldn't be complete without giveaways:









Then after review, slumber party @ home!

Lesson of the Day:

Actually, I don't know how to put my LOTD in just a few words.
Okay, so here's the thing.

I know Girl A, she's my classmate. She was once with Guy A. Now, Guy A is with Girl B. Back on those days when these three stepped into the same school, Girl A was always finding fault with Girl B, her nose, her face, her everything. Girl A's friends were with her too, of course.

A year later, Girl A and Girl B were sort of friends. They now smile, cheer, and talk with each other... genuinely ha? Girl A's friends had become Girl B's friends too.

Just a few days ago, a friend of mine who is Girl B's friend too told me something which involves Girl B. Maybe he thought I don't know Girl B, he said, "That girl who looks like Girl A."

I don't know if you understood the situation, hehe.
My point is, sometimes, we put others down, looking for imperfections in them, just to make ourselves feel better... when the truth is, we are just so like them. Maybe we don't feel others because somehow, we can find ourselves in them.

Maybe it's just our ego.
Or something.

The Best Lesson I've Ever Learned:
(and perhaps, for those who have self-esteem issues too)

"If you can never be like them, be whoever they can never be."

I just want to share this. I was over this issue and I'm having fun with what I had realized because of the self-esteem issue.

A year or so ago, I was insecure with this girl because of many things. And then I was looking at her Friendster (mu pa ni uso) pics and I envy her because she is really beautiful in whatever angle. So it goes with all other pretty girls surrounding me.

Then came one night where I broke down because of my self-esteem problem. Then it just struck me that if i can't be always pretty in pics like her, then I can have the ugliest face in pics!
Haha! Kind of weird right?
To your right is the result. I laughed at myself. I made myself laugh at my stupidity (the insecurity, not the face).

Presently, I was 'amazing' my groupmates with this special talent. They were calling me 'the best poser'. Well, judge for yourselves, =)

Lesson of the Day:

I've watched this movie in Youtube, heard of this movie a long time ago. I'm interested because it received positive feedbacks, and especially that Rotten Tomatoes considered it certified fresh (97%!).

It is another vampire story but this one's different. Maybe it's because they were 12-year-olds... in youtube, it was compared to Twilight. About that thing, my only comment would be this: Twilight is a fairytale version of vampire lore. And for me, I prefer the dark side of the vampire story and maybe that's why I like this movie.

What I love:

1) This scene:
[Oskar]: Eli, want to go steady?
[Eli]: What do you mean?
[Oskar]: Do you want to be my girlfriend?
[Eli]: Oskar, I'm not a girl.
[Oskar]: But do you want to go steady or not?
[Eli]: Couldn't we just keep the things the way they are?
[Oskar]: I guess...
[Eli]: Do you do anything special when you go steady?
[Oskar]: No.
[Eli]: So everything’s the same?
[Oskar]: Yes.
[Eli]: Then we’ll go steady. It’ll be you and me.

2) Oskar and Eli's relationship. It's like you don't have to ask questions (because their relationship was kind of weird and complicated). I just felt it and that's enough.

3) Vagueness of the movie. This was based on a novel and as I've known from Wikipedia, the novel is supposedly darker and the director had to cut these issues (drugs, pedophilia, etc) because he wants to focus on the relationship of Oskar and Eli. I wish I could read the book too.

4) This comment from Rotten Tomatoes:
"It’s everything Twilight wanted to be but wasn’t: beautiful to gaze at, achingly romantic, emotionally involving, unexpectedly terrifying."

I've watched this film a few nights ago. I love the humor of the film and loved every kid in the film, really. It was told in a number of shorts, and when it was about to end, episode five, I was like, "Huh? Asta lang episode five?" For me, it's super entertaining.
